چکیده

an investigation on the thermal performance of the soil as geothermal heat energy storage medium has been conducted. the thermal characteristics of the soil storage and the heat transfer from a heat exchanger in the soil, surrounding and bottom surface will be discussed. this investigation forms a contribution to a project to realize such storage to be charged from a solar heating system. this system serves as a district heating system which is capable of storing sun radiation energy and discharged at a required time upon order. the solar energy system delivers a substantial amount of the daily periodical demand for space heating and also may be used for domestic hot water or any other purpose. during sunny days the surplus of heat coming from the solar collectors is flowing through a water circulator network towards the reservoir. during cloudy days or knights the heat withdrawn from the reservoir to meet the heat demand of the dwellings is flowing towards the dwellings and transferred through backward water circulator network to heat up the surface heat producer. the investigated reservoir is a rectangular part of the soil which acts as the storage volume for sensible heat.). as a result the soil in such a reservoir may be saturated with water. density differences of the groundwater will circulated when heat is introduced into the soil. natural convection (free convection) then might develop.

Optimal Power Consumption in a Central Heating System with Geothermal Heat Pump

A ground source heat pump connected to a domestic hydronic heating network is studied to be driven with the minimum electric power. The hypothesis is to decrease the forward temperature to the extent that one of the hydronic heaters work at full capacity. A less forward temperature would result in a dramatic temperature drop in the room with saturated actuator. The optimization hypothesis is in...

Heating in a Geothermal Reservoir

A computer program in Visual Basic 6.0 is written to calculate steam tables for pure water up to 800oC and 1400 bar. The steam tables are created as a DLL (Dynamic Link Library) object with properties: temperature, pressure, specific volume, enthalpy and entropy for liquid and vapor phases, and liquidvapor state. The steam tables can be incorporated in any computer program on the Windows platfo...

Down-Hole Heat Exchangers: Modelling of a Low-Enthalpy Geothermal System for District Heating

In order to face the growing energy demands, renewable energy sources can provide an alternative to fossil fuels. Thus, low-enthalpy geothermal plants may play a fundamental role in those areas— such as the Province of Viterbo—where shallow groundwater basins occur and conventional geothermal plants cannot be developed. Thismay lead to being fuelled by locally available sources. The aim of the ...

Optimization of Heat Exchangers for Geothermal District Heating

This paper analyzes the optimal configuration and operating parameters of a heat exchanger in a geothermal district heating system. An optimization algorithm is presented for the nonlinear constrained problem to maximize the annual net profit for a system of counter-flow heat exchangers. Several parameters that affect the net profit are examined, including the mass flow rates of working fluids ...

Thermodynamic analysis of a novel solar water heating system during low sun radiation in Iran

This paper reports a plenary thermodynamic model of a novel solar system for water heating in buildings. Energy and exergy analyses are used to characterize the exergy destruction rate in any component and calculate system overall efficiency. The system consists of a solar evaporator, a heat exchanger to produce hot water, and an auxiliary pump. A computer simulation program using EES software ...
